Key learning points (KLPs) are essential pieces of information or concepts within a topic that are crucial for understanding the overall subject. They explicitly state the attitudes, knowledge, skills, and/or behaviors that the learner must exhibit. KLPs are usually tagged to a topic, question, or other learning objects with a title indicating the subject.

KLPs should follow a basic structure that includes:

- Who needs to exhibit the behavior

- What skill, attitude, knowledge, and/or behavior is to be exhibited

- When it is applicable

- Why it is important

For example, if the title is "Marketing materials must prominently display all material information," the KLP would be as follows:

Who: Marketing and investment professionals creating materials for investors

What: Must ensure that information critical to the investor's understanding of the communication is not in the footnote or endnote and instead is placed in a position of sufficient prominence to the reader

When: When creating materials for investors

Why: To ensure compliance with FINRA and SEC regulations.
